Recycling: Green Business Partnership application and new recycling app now available
Our Green Business Partnership Program is back and we want YOU to apply! We also have a brand-new recycling app that can be downloaded for free. Details about both are below.
2024 Green Business Partnership Applications
The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority and the Centre Region Council of Governments are partnering to recognize Centre County businesses, institutions, organizations, communities and schools, etc., as “Green Business Partners” who take pride in their recycling programs.
We have designed a “Recycling Works for My Business” window cling for display. This window cling serves as a visual indicator to the public that our local entities are committed to the well-being of the county by following proper waste management, waste reduction and recycling practices.
Many of our clings are proudly displayed on windows across the area. If your business recycles and has not received a “Recycling Works for My Business” window cling, please contact me at aschirf@centrecountyrecycles.org or at 814-238-7005.
We are asking area businesses, institutions, organizations, communities and schools who have outstanding recycling programs to complete and submit a Centre County Green Business Partnership Application. We want to recognize you! Our application can be found and completed online at www.centrecountyrecycles.org.
We want to hear about what is going on locally in the following areas: recycling, composting/organics, special event recycling, reuse, environmental rehabilitation and recycling innovation. So, visit our website and complete your application today!
The deadline to complete and submit the application is Jan. 31, 2024. Successful candidates will be invited to an awards event to be held in the spring. In addition, successful candidates will be featured in our newsletter, on our website and social media pages. We can’t wait to recognize those who are going above and beyond.

New Recycle Coach App Available for Download
After months of working out the bugs and testing our new Recycle Coach app, I am confident to now promote it. Our new app can be downloaded on your phone and can be used to: type in an item or take a picture of an item to check if you can recycle it locally, view your collection schedule for possible delays/holiday changes, sign up for notifications, learn about local recycling/special events, answer recycling questions and more! Please note that the collection schedule feature is only available to those in certain municipalities (for example, I live in Halfmoon Township and cannot access that feature). In addition, if you do not have a smartphone, you can try Recycle Coach on our website. Download it for free at the App Store or scan the QR code at www.centrecountyrecycles.org to get the free Recycle Coach App.
