Helping hands: Join Centre County Council for Human Services to make a difference in the community

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

The Centre County Council for Human Services (CCCHS) is one of our community’s highly valued cooperative organizations. Membership in this nonprofit allows many Centre County human service organizations to share important announcements and events through monthly newsletters, give presentations at monthly luncheons, apply for the Robert Ott Seed Grant, attend discounted professional education programs, and network with other organizations.

We welcome any agency, business and community-minded individual who is interested in providing a helping hand to our community to join. Notable events that CCCHS hosts include the annual Rose Cologne Dinner, where organizations can recognize a special volunteer, and the annual “Lunch with the Legislators,” where members pose questions to local representatives about current issues facing Centre County human services. In 2023, we had 84 organizations in the Centre County Council for Human Services, along with ten individuals.

Council members are invited to write articles for a Helping Hands column as a collaborative effort with the Centre Daily Times to provide our community with information on the human services available. Please visit www.theccchs.org/helping-hands to read recent articles.

Membership meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of the month at Calvary Church in Boalsburg. Our first meeting of 2024 will be on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at noon. We encourage interested organizations or individuals to email ccchs2@gmail.com for more information.

Visit theccchs.org for the membership application. Together, we can make a difference.

Karen Lambert, adult services librarian at Schlow Centre Region Library, is the president of the CCCHS board of directors.
