Recycling: Community events, grant opportunities and more updates from CCRRA
There’s a lot happening at the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA), and we don’t want you to miss a thing. From grant opportunities to community events, here are the latest updates.
Recycling mini-grant applications now open
Municipalities, businesses, haulers, schools, health care institutions and nonprofits are encouraged to apply for CCRRA’s Recycling Mini-Grant. If you have a project in mind to improve recycling but need additional funding, this program can help bring your ideas to life. Visit www.centrecountyrecycles.org for more information and to apply.
Free paper shredding event
State Rep. Paul Takac’s office is partnering with CCRRA to host a free shredding event on Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m.-noon at the CCRRA facility. Bring your old bills, bank records, and other sensitive documents for safe recycling.
In addition, we invite you to support local pets in need by bringing a donation. A pet supply collection box will be available on-site for your convenience.
Business After Hours with CCRRA & Envinity
On Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m., CCRRA and Envinity will co-host a CBICC Business After Hours at our facility. Guests will have the opportunity to network, enjoy refreshments, and get an exclusive look at CCRRA’s new solar array — more than 1,600 panels strong — built by Envinity. A hands-on solar education display will also be featured. This event is open to Chamber members and the public. You can register for this event at www.cbicc.com.
Green community partnership applications open
Do you know a business, school, or organization in Centre County with an outstanding recycling or sustainability program? CCRRA is now accepting applications for its Green Community Partnership recognition. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31, 2026. Visit www.centrecountyrecycles.org to learn more about the recognition program.
Save the Date – Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event
It is never too early to save the date for one of the most anticipated free events of the spring. Mark April 24-25 on your calendar for your chance to properly dispose of household hazardous items that you may have laying around in your garage, basement or shed. Registration is free and will be available online in March of 2026.
