With thrifting growing in popularity across the country, it should come as no surprise that it’s growing in Centre County too, with a myriad of secondhand treasures for those who know where to look.
From vintage clothing for people of any age to used collectibles, furniture and more, there are more than a dozen stores scattered across the county that offer visitors a chance to go home with their next great find.
Autumn Swope, a 22-year-old Bellefonte resident, has been thrifting in Centre County for six years, and told the Centre Daily Times Tuesday that she’s found many goods at thrift stores, including clothes, home decor and more.
“Thrifting tends to be cheaper — it’s a lot more economical than going and buying new clothes,” Swope said outside of Goodwill on the Benner Pike. “I think a lot of people are shifting their ideas around and buying secondhand, used items nowadays. Buying new is only getting more and more expensive and I think thrifting offers a good way to get around that.”
We’ve compiled a list of some of the top thrift shops in the county. Did we leave off your favorite? Email jmichael@centredaily.com to add to the list.
