How to make the Centre Daily Times your preferred source in Google search
You may have noticed your Google search results can be cluttered by inaccurate, artificial intelligence-generated summaries and advertisements. If you’d rather have something like the classic Google experience — where trustworthy results relevant to you file to the top — the tech company recently launched a feature called “Preferred Sources.”
You can get trusted, soundly reported local news on Centre County and the State College area by making the Centre Daily Times one of your preferred sources, or websites selected by you that Google prioritizes in the “top stories” tab of search results.
To add the CDT as a preferred source, use this link and select the box to the right of centredaily.com.
You can also select your preferred sources while searching on Google by pressing the icon next to “Top stories.”
The tool is only available to those with a Google account, and you may be asked to log in if you aren’t already. Google said in a blog post the feature is available in English.
The Centre Daily Times, helmed by Executive Editor Jessica McAllister, offers local breaking news, sports, weather, accountability and enhanced coverage of Penn State and the surrounding community powered by local reporters on the ground. You can support our work as a Google preferred source or with an online subscription.
