After ‘significant’ loss of mental health services in Bellefonte, new office opens to help fill the void
Months after Universal Community Behavioral Health closed its Bellefonte outpatient clinic, a new office has opened that aims to fill a gap in Centre County’s mental health services.
The new CenClear office, located at 3208 Benner Pike, Suite 9 in Bellefonte, opened Monday and provides mental health outpatient services, according to a CenClear release. The site also houses a decision support center and offers psychiatric services provided by Dr. Sreedevi Komarneni and Rebecca Lindauer.
Referrals can be made by calling 877-341-5845 or by filling out an online form at www.cenclear.org.
UCBH, the health system that runs The Meadows Psychiatric Center and Can Help, announced the closure of its Bellefonte facility in December. The decision affected more than 1,000 county residents, county Human Services Administrator Natalie Corman said last year, calling the loss “significant.”
The majority of CenClear’s mental health and addiction staff members — therapists, navigators and nurses — returned to their offices Monday after working remotely for months due to COVID-19.
CenClear doctors are expected to return in June, but community-based programs like certified peer specialists will continue virtually. Clients will have the option to continue telehealth sessions or visit CenClear offices for in-person sessions.
The Center for Community Resources, a State College 24-hour walk-in mental health crisis intervention service, continues to operate amid the coronavirus.
