36-year-old woman dies after pedestrian-vehicle crash in downtown Bellefonte, coroner says
A Bellefonte woman died Wednesday after she was hit by a Dodge Ram in downtown Bellefonte, state police at Rockview and the Centre County coroner said.
Stephanie Wilson, 36, was exiting her vehicle about 8 a.m. and was hit at the intersection of North Allegheny and East High streets, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said.
The driver was turning right onto West High Street from North Allegheny Street, state police at Rockview said.
Wilson died at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, Sayers said.
Police declined to release information about the driver of the Dodge Ram. They would not comment on whether drugs or alcohol are believed to have factors, or if the driver fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Portions of downtown Bellefonte roads were closed until at least noon, including Allegheny Street in front of the Centre County Courthouse.
Responding agencies included Logan Fire Company, state police at Rockview, Spring Township police, Bellefonte EMS and Bellefonte Fire Police.
