Downtown Bellefonte Inc. cancels biggest fundraiser of the year
Downtown Bellefonte Inc.’s biggest annual fundraiser, Bellefonte Under the Lights, has been canceled.
“After much consideration, Downtown Bellefonte Inc. has decided to cancel Under the Lights for 2020,” the organization announced on Facebook Tuesday morning. “We thank you for your continued support of this event and hope to see you in 2021 for the event.”
The event, planned for September along the Bellefonte Waterfront, is a progressive-style dinner where guests may choose “their own culinary adventure” from local food and beverage vendors.
Tickets for this year’s event, which supports local businesses and economic development in downtown Bellefonte, had not yet gone on sale.
Last year’s event had more than 800 attendees and sold out hours after tickets launched. More than $20,000 was reimbursed to vendors.
“Canceling this event, our biggest fundraiser of the year, does have an impact on our organization and its efforts,” the post read. “Consider becoming a member of Downtown Bellefonte Inc. to support the longevity of this event and other community events to come.”
