Here’s how you can support local businesses in Bellefonte this Shop Small Saturday
As people begin to get into the season of holiday shopping, events are planned in Bellefonte to promote small businesses and encourage consumers to shop local.
Downtown Bellefonte Inc. is holding its annual Shop Small Crawl on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26, sponsored by Universal Settlement Services of PA. DBI will have a table set up inside the Little Blue House, across from Pizza Mia, 105 N. Spring St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Those who are out and about Saturday are encouraged to stop by for music and to warm up inside with hot chocolate. Every 30 minutes, DBI will give away a $30 #LoveBFT gift card — which can be used to purchase goods at nearly 50 different participating merchants — to a “neighborhood supporter.” Those interested can become a member and enter the drawing on Saturday at the booth.
For $12, shoppers can purchase a “Shop Small Crawl” tote bag on Saturday at DBI’s table. Then, between Nov. 26 and Dec. 19, people can shop at participating locations to earn pins from each business or organization for the tote bag. When someone makes a purchase at a participating merchant, they should say they’re doing the Shop Small Crawl to receive the pin.
The Shop Small Crawl Totes will also be available at the DBI booth at Belle Mercantile from Nov. 26 through Dec. 19.
Those who collect at least 15 pins will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a chance to win one of two $250 #LoveBFT gift cards when they email a photo of the tote to jennilyn@downtownbellefonteinc.com. To gain one additional entry, participants can post a photo of their tote bag on social media using the #LoveBFT tag. A winner will be announced Dec. 20.
DBI will also have a Holiday Trolley on four dates this season — including Black Friday and Small Business Saturday — to help residents and visitors support local businesses. The full trolley schedule and routes are available online at https://downtownbellefonteinc.com/2022/11/22/holiday-trolley-to-support-downtown-shopping-dining/.
