Fundraiser created for couple who ‘lost everything’ after Walker Township house fire

A GoFundMe has been started to help two people who lost everything in a house fire in Walker Township just days before Christmas.

Betsy Stover organized the fundraiser on behalf of her mother, Mary, and stepfather, Mark. They lost everything in the fire, Stover wrote in the fundraiser description.

“Many have asked how they can help, and quite honestly it’s a difficult question to answer when one has literally lost everything except the clothes they were wearing,” the GoFundMe reads.

She wrote they’re grateful for the “outpouring of prayers, love, and support from family, friends, and the community.”

“Above all, we covet your prayers. If you feel led to donate financially, we thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for your kindness. Your love and generosity will go a long way to making their Christmas season a little more cheerful.”

The GoFundMe, listed as “House Fire Mark & Mary Wykoff” can be found here.

The residents were not injured in the fire that began about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block of Nittany Valley Drive, Walker Township Fire Company Chief Chris Roan said. The fire was controlled about 3 p.m.

The cause of the blaze that began in the rear of the single-story home was not immediately known. A state police fire marshal is investigating, Roan said.
