A 31-year-old Philadelphia man was killed Thursday in a crash on Interstate 80 West near the Milesburg exit, state police at Rockview said.

The crash involved two tractor-trailers, police wrote in a crash report released Saturday, and occured at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of mile marker 153.9.

Ilkhom Khusainov, 31, of Philadelphia, pulled the tractor-trailer he was driving over on the right shoulder, parked it on the right lane and exited to “assess the situation with the unit,” police wrote. A tractor-trailer driven by a 34-year-old Illinois man was traveling in the right lane, with another tractor-trailer ahead of it that moved to the left lane to avoid striking the vehicle.

The tractor-trailer driven by the Illinois man failed to observe the pulled over vehicle and struck it in the rear trailer area with the front passenger side of the vehicle, police wrote. After impact, the tractor-trailer driven by the Illinois man swerved and struck the vehicle again in the driver side of the trailer and truck. It then struck Khusainov, who was outside of the vehicle on the roadway.

Khusainov was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was not injured, the release states. Both tractor-trailers had disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Eagle Towing.

Bellefonte Fire, Bellefonte EMS and the Milesburg fire company were among those that assisted state police on the scene.

The crash is the second fatal crash in the area in recent weeks. Three people died on June 20 after related crashes on I-80 West near mile marker 156.2.
