Popular frozen custard shop set to open Monday in Bellefonte area. Here’s what we know
Centre County is poised to get its newest frozen custard/yogurt shop next week — just in time for warmer temperatures.
The Meadows of Happy Valley, a frozen custard shop with roots in Duncansville, announced on social media that it will open its Bellefonte area location this coming Monday. It can be found at 2934 Benner Pike, next to Troy’s Philadelphia Style Hoagies.
Monday’s hours will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Meadows is a popular chain of frozen custard shops that can trace its origin to its original Duncansville storefront that opened in the summer of 1950. The chain now boasts more than two dozen locations mostly concentrated in Pennsylvania, but with shops as far away as Georgia, Texas — and even Australia.
Although multiple locations for The Meadows are within an hour’s drive of Bellefonte and State College, this will be Centre County’s first such location.
Menu items are obviously centered around frozen custard, using the same recipe back in 1950, along with frozen yogurt and Italian ice. Items include cups and cones, shakes and smoothies, and sundaes and other specialties. Prices and Monday’s specialty flavors were not immediately made available, and the location did not respond to a CDT message seeking more information.
The Meadows of Happy Valley publicly announced their intent to open in August 2024. They’ve chronicled significant renovations to the interior of the property since, before announcing Tuesday night about their plans to open March 10.
According to AccuWeather, the opening should coincide with warm and sunny weather. Monday will see temperatures hover near 50 degrees while approaching 60 degrees Wednesday.
