Minor injuries reported after collision involving school bus in Bellefonte

Law enforcement agencies were on the scene Tuesday afternoon to respond to a collision involving a Bellefonte school bus.

A bus heading to Bellefonte Area Middle School was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East High Street and South McAllister Street at approximately 3:45 p.m., district Superintendent Roy Rakszawski told the Centre Daily Times. Five students were on the bus at that time, and some were treated for minor injuries at the scene, he said.

Undine Fire Chief Gary Lohr said an SUV struck the bus and there were no serious injuries from the school bus or the SUV.

“Thank you to administration and first responders for their quick and effective response to ensure the safety and well-being of our students,” Rakszawski wrote in an email.

The Logan and Undine fire companies responded to the crash, alongside Bellefonte and Pleasant Gap EMS and Bellefonte police, and part of East High Street and South McAllister Street were closed while crews were on scene.
