2 found dead after fire in Spring Township home. An investigation is underway

Two homeowners were found dead Saturday morning after a fire tore through their Spring Township home, the local police department said.

The homeowners’ names have not yet been publicly released, but the next of kin has been notified. An investigation is underway involving the State Police Fire Marshal and Centre County Coroner’s Office.

According to public emergency services information, fire companies responded to a two-alarm blaze in the 100 block of Mulbarger Lane around 9:15 a.m. Saturday. A portion of nearby Blanchard Street was blocked off for more than an hour, as firefighters had the blaze under control within 75 minutes.

“After multiple area fire departments were able to control the fire, a search of the residence began,” the Spring Township Police Department wrote in a news release. “Unfortunately, two individuals were found deceased within the home.”

The police department said more information would be released “when appropriate.”
