Section of I-80 westbound near Bellefonte closed after crash. What to know
A significant portion of Interstate 80 westbound near Bellefonte is completely closed after a multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning, and PennDOT estimated the highway would not reopen until later in the afternoon.
According to public emergency services information and preliminary dispatch reports, three vehicles were involved in a crash in Boggs Township near mile marker 159. All westbound lanes were closed shortly after 10 a.m., between Exits 158 (Milesburg) and 178 (Lock Haven), causing miles-long backups and delays.
WJAC published a photo that purported to be of the crash, which showed a large truck overturned on its side.
Dispatch reports revealed that several people were evaluated for injuries, but the severity of those injuries was not immediately known.
PennDOT said it tentatively expected the road to reopen by 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
