Gray’s Vehicle Clinic suffered a significant blow to its operations due to a fire Thursday, but the business continued running on two fronts.

Gray’s owner Sam Gray said they are still towing and renting out U-Hauls.

The decision to rebuild the shop has not been made.

“We’re still thinking about that, but our focus is just getting back on our feet,” Gray said. “We’re in limbo about whether we build it again.”

Gray estimated that there was more than $1 million in damage due to the fire. He said a cause was not determined.

It’s never ending how many people are offering a truck or a dumpster or a hand to help us.

Pleasant Gap Fire Company officials could not be reached for comment.

Gray was given clearance Monday to begin cleanup of the site. He will salvage what he can, and he received support from local people and businesses in his efforts.

“People have been calling and coming in to help,” Gray said. “If there’s anything that should be said about this, it’s how much support we’ve received. We’re very thankful for everyone’s support. It’s never ending how many people are offering a truck or a dumpster or a hand to help us.”

It is the second fire that struck the Gray family business, which was founded in 1944.

The first was in 1991, Gray said.

“It’s very unfortunate,” Gray said. “No one knows what happened. No one saw anything or knew until it was too late.”
