Penn “sponsored a Relay Carnival on April 23, 1926, at Franklin Field; and a foursome from Bellefonte High School took second place in the high school mile relay with a time of 3 minutes, 41.4 seconds. The silver medalists were: Charles Merrill ‘Dutch’ Waite, Alan Katz, John Shoemaker and Jim McCullough. New Castle High came in first. At the Interscholastics Meet, Bellefonte High’s Don Best was second in the broad jump and McCullough placed fourth in the 100-yard dash.”
