Penns Valley teenager seriously injured while working on farm, fire chief says
A Penns Valley teenager who was trapped in a corn harvester Monday was seriously injured, Millheim Fire Company’s chief said Tuesday.
Firefighters and medical workers were called about 4:15 p.m. Monday to a cornfield in Penn Township to help free one of the teenager’s legs that was trapped in the harvester, Millheim Fire Company Chief Delmer Homan said.
The teen was trapped for about 30 minutes while first responders disassembled the machine, Homan said. He was flown by medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center.
Miles Township Fire Company, Centre Hall Volunteer Fire Company, Penns Valley EMS and Mount Nittany EMS also responded.
