Penns Valley home extensively damaged in fire that sent one person to the hospital

One person was injured and a home was extensively damaged after an early morning fire in Rebersburg on Friday.

Miles Township Fire Company received the call to a two-story home in the 100 block of Smullton Road just before 8 a.m. and had the fire under control after 30 minutes, fire chief Eric Miller said.

One person was in the home at the time of the fire and was transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of burn injuries.

The damage to the home was extensive, “close to a total loss,” Miller said.

Several fire companies besides Miles Township were called out, including Millheim, Gregg Township, Centre Hall and Walker Township fire companies.

“The problem is being out in the rural area, the water supply is short so a lot of those were tank trucks bringing water to the fire,” Miller said.
