Set your alarms a little earlier: Roadwork to cause morning delays on busy Penns Valley road

Biloxi

Drivers will want to give themselves more time to make their morning commute this week as maintenance and repair work is performed on a busy road in rural Centre County.

Crews are scheduled to perform work beginning about 7 a.m. daily through Friday on an about six-mile stretch of state Route 45, the state Department of Transportation said Monday afternoon. The work is set to take place between Penns Cave Road and Millheim.

The project is intended to repair cracks, potholes and distorted pavement in Millheim, as well as Penn and Gregg townships. It was not immediately clear if the project would extend into Haines Township.

Such repairs, PennDOT wrote in a release, should extend the life of the road and give drivers a smoother ride.

Traffic during daylight hours will be controlled by flaggers, who PennDOT wrote would make “every attempt to prioritize traffic flow, including morning school traffic.”
