State College man killed, woman injured in rollover crash, police say in new report

A State College man was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in a rollover crash earlier this month in Penns Valley, state police at Rockview wrote in a report released Tuesday.

Corey A. Fike, 25, was killed after he crashed about 3:50 a.m. Aug. 12 along state Route 45 in Potter Township, police wrote. While driving west in the area of Tusseyville Road, police wrote that Fike drove off the road and hit a utility pole.

The SUV rolled multiple times, and Fike and his passenger were ejected, police wrote.

Fike was transported by Penns Valley EMS to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where he died shortly after his arrival, police wrote. His passenger, a 20-year-old Pleasant Gap woman, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Williamsport.

According to posts on his Facebook page and marriage license records, he and the woman married just days before the crash.

There were nine fatal crashes between 2014-23 in Potter Township, state Department of Transportation data showed. That was tied for the third most of any municipality in Centre County.

Twelve such crashes were reported during that time in Rush Township, while 10 fatal crashes were reported in Walker Township.
