Centre County woman dead after rollover crash on highway in southern Pennsylvania
A Centre County woman died Friday after a rollover crash on a highway in southern Pennsylvania, local police and the Adams County Coroner’s Office said.
Mary Neale, 79, of Centre Hall, died of blunt force injuries, Adams County Chief Deputy Coroner Scott Pennewill told the Centre Daily Times on Tuesday. Her death was ruled accidental.
Two SUVs crashed about 10:30 a.m. Friday on U.S. Route 15 in Adams County, Cumberland Township police wrote in a press release. One of the vehicles rolled over, police wrote.
The department did not immediately release additional details about how the crash occurred. An investigation is ongoing. Pennewill said both drivers were heading southbound.
Neale died at 11:38 a.m. Friday after being transported to WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, Pennewill said. She was wearing a seat belt.
An 80-year-old Centre Hall man and a 57-year-old Lackawanna County man were also involved in the crash. Cumberland Township police Chief Matthew Trostel wrote in an email Tuesday that he believed they were also transported to hospitals for injuries from the crash.
Trostel said he had not been told of the seriousness of their injuries. First responders from at least eight different agencies assisted. The highway was closed for several hours.
Six fatal crashes were reported over the previous decade in Cumberland Township, state Department of Transportation data showed. Not including any deadly crashes in the township this year, Friday’s fatal crash was the first in the township since 2020.
