Fire crews from across Centre County battle blaze in Potter Township home
Fire companies from across Centre County were called early Friday morning to help contain a blaze in Potter Township.
Crews responded to the fire inside the home at 322 Lake Road near Centre Hall shortly after 3 a.m. and contained it after about 30 minutes, Centre Hall Volunteer Fire Company Chief Brian Tice said. Alpha, Boalsburg, Gregg Township, Pleasant Gap, Miles Township and Millheim fire companies were among those called to the scene to provide additional tankers and support.
No injuries were reported, Tice said. Most of the damage was contained to an upstairs bedroom and its adjacent bathroom.
For now, the cause of the fire remains unclear. Tice said his company expects to be in contact with the Centre County fire marshal later Friday.
According to the fire chief, the fire appeared to have started on the outside of the structure toward the home’s rear before working through the exterior walls. Crews spent about two and half hours on the scene before departing.
Although the home was damaged, Tice said the structure should survive.
“I don’t think they’re going to be able to live in it in the near future, but it is not a loss by any means,” he said. “It’s definitely repairable.”
