After nearly a century, Miles Township Elementary is closing its doors.

The Penns Valley Area School District’s board of directors voted Tuesday to immediately shutter the school, which faced dwindling enrollment and operational challenges. The closure, finalized two weeks before the first day of school, will retain all building staff and send Miles Township Elementary’s remaining students to the district’s Penns Valley or Centre Hall elementary schools.

We want to hear from Centre Daily Times readers and community members with connections to Miles Township Elementary. Your submitted stories, photographs and comments could appear in an upcoming CDT story highlighting the Rebersburg elementary school’s past.

Please use this linked Google Form to let us know how Miles Township Elementary impacted you over the years. Did you walk its halls as a student or send your own children there? Maybe you taught classes there or helped keep the building in tip-top shape. No matter what, we want to hear your fondest memories and stories to celebrate the school’s legacy.

Our Google Form will accept reader submissions through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. You can access the form by following this URL: https://forms.gle/i3h6mv5Bn8tdz1xk9.
