‘Monster hunters’ descend on Black Mo
Black Moshannon State Park is now a much safer place, after more than a hundred “monster hunters” descended on the beach area Saturday afternoon to compete in a series of puzzles and obstacles — all in the name of defeating monsters.
The sixth annual Monster Hunt at Black Moshannon, which is held in memory of dedicated park volunteer and outdoorsman Mike McCloskey, brought people dressed in colorful and creative “monster” and “monster hunter” costumes out to compete in a 5K adventure scavenger race around the park.
Participants were tasked with running to different stations, picking up clues, solving puzzles, crawling through obstacles — and a giant mud pit — to escape and defeat the “monsters.”
This year’s race benefited Violet Lucas, a one-year-old Osceola Mills girl who was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome, which affects multiple systems in the body.
