WTAJ

Residents of a Philipsburg apartment building were displaced Wednesday evening after a fire broke out in one of the units.

Fire crews were called to 408-412 Pine St. at about 6:20 p.m. Philipsburg Fire Department Chief Jeff Harris told WTAJ, the CDT’s news partner, that crews found heavy fire upon arrival. Of the six apartments in the building, five were rented out.

One resident suffered burn injuries and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center, Harris told WTAJ.

The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal was called to the scene to determine cause. It took at least an hour to get the fire under control, and crews remained on scene for several hours Wednesday night.

Mountain Top, Alpha, Chester Hill Hose and Columbia fire companies and Undine Fire Department were also called to assist.
