An investigation is underway after a Centre County school bus crashed along a state highway Monday morning.

The Philipsburg Fire Department responded to the crash along the 2000 block of Black Moshannon Road on Pennsylvania Route 504 at about 7:07 a.m., Hope Fire Company wrote on Facebook. Emergency responders found the bus on its side off the road after striking several trees. No children were onboard at the time of the crash, the department said.

After crews confirmed children were not on board and no other vehicles were involved, Moshannon Valley EMS evaluated and transported the driver to a nearby hospital to treat minor injuries. Police blocked off part of the road down to one traffic lane to clear any hazards and debris, Hope Fire Company wrote.

State police at Rockview are investigating the cause of the crash, the fire department wrote. Traffic control duties were handed over to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Hope Fire Company encouraged travelers to exercise caution while driving along Pennsylvania Route 504 just east of Philipsburg Elementary School.
