The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will begin work on a Philipsburg bridge Friday, closing the bridge and creating a detour in its place.
The bridge, located along Loch Lomond Road, crosses Cold Stream near East Pine Street, PennDOT said. Replacing the 88-year-old bridge will provide the 2,500 vehicles that cross daily with a new, modern structure.
The signed detour will direct drivers to use One Mile Run Road, Medical Center Drive and Loch Lomond Road, PennDOT said. The detour will remain for the length of the project, which PennDOT estimates will be complete by late August.
Overall work will include demolition of the current bridge, construction of a new concrete box beam structure and sewer line relocation, PennDOT said.
