A 48-unit townhouse development is planned for State College.
Pleasant Pointe, a proposed six-building complex located near the Nittany Mall, will encompass about 5.6 acres off of Trout Road and Quincy Avenue, according to land development plans submitted by HFL Corporation in October.
Troy Knecht, HFL’s Vice President of project management, said construction is slated to begin in April 2017 and the target completion date is June 2018. A new road, Pleasant Pointe Avenue, will be created for the development, which will also feature a community center. The plans include 99 parking stalls.
The units all constitute inclusionary housing, Knecht added. There will be 24 two-bedroom, 18 three-bedroom and six one-bedroom units.
Mark Holdren, a senior planner for the Centre Region Planning Agency, said the group is moving quickly, though it is still early in the process. The plans have not yet been reviewed by the planning commission.
“Staff does have some comments, most of which can be addressed as they move through the process,” Holdren said. “I don’t see anything that would hold this project up at this point.”
