The State College Area school board at its meeting on Monday approved the supplemental property tax rebate program for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
The 2017-2018 budget includes $100,000 for the program, which offers rebates of up to $650 for qualified homeowners. Renters do not qualify for the program.
To qualify for the rebate, the applicant must be at least 65 years old or have a spouse in the household who is at least 65; a widow or a widower who is at least 50 years old or a disabled person who is at least 18.
To receive the maximum rebate of $650, qualified applicants must not have an annual household income of more than $8,000. Applicants with a household income of $8,001 up to $15,000 can receive a $500 rebate. Households with an income of $15,001 to $18,000 can receive a $300 rebate and applicants with a household income of $18,001 to $35,000 can receive $250.

Households with an annual income of more than $35,000 do not qualify for the program.
Allotment of the $100,000 is on a first come, first served basis.
Applications for the program can be found on the district’s website and they can be submitted between July 1 and June 30, 2018.
