State College police are reminding residents that several borough routes will be closed Thursday for the State College Area High School homecoming parade and to avoid travel in that area if possible.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will last about an hour and a half, police said. The route will be closed to traffic starting at 5:45 p.m.

The parade begins at the high school, police said, moving east on Westerly Parkway to South Allen. The parade will then move north along South Allen to Nittany Avenue then turn west on Nittany to South Fraser Street.

South Fraser from Foster Avenue to Fairmount Avenue will be closed during the parade, police said, along with the 100 and 200 blocks of West Nittany Avenue. Streets adjacent to Memorial Field will be closed after the parade for a pep rally at the field.
