Heading to the Rathskeller this weekend? It’s not as easy as just showing up.
If you’re planning to come out to the All-American Rathskeller this Saturday to bid a fond farewell to owners Duke and Monica Gastiger, maybe bring a book.
According to the rules laid out on the downtown State College bar’s Facebook page on Sunday, the Rathskeller will maintain a strict occupancy limit of 350 people at all times — and if the crowd that wrapped around South Pugh Street last weekend is any indication, there will be lines.
Patrons can say their goodbyes in shifts — 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., 4:30- 7 p.m., 7:30-10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.- 2 a.m. — and will be asked to leave the bar once that window comes to a close.
From there, folks are welcome to return to the back of the line and start the whole process over again, but should expect to pay a $5 cover charge each time they enter the bar. All patrons must clear out of the bar at 2 a.m.
Children younger than 10 will be allowed entrance until 7 p.m. as long as they are accompanied by a parent.
If you’re on the fence about which time slot to plan for, just follow the music. Velveeta will play from noon- 2 p.m., J.R. and Sharon from 2:30- 4 p.m., Lowjack from 4:30-7 p.m., Table Ten from 7:30-10 p.m. and Skoal Bros. from 10:30 p.m. to close.
