The State College Area School District announced a new traffic pattern that will take effect on Monday to alleviate traffic on Westerly Parkway.

Traffic will only be permitted to flow west at the North Building. The North Building will serve as one of two morning bus drop-off locations. It will also have a student, faculty and staff parking area.

The second bus drop-off location is at the South Building, where renovations have been underway since 2015. There is also a second staff and faculty parking lot at the South Building.

Students may be picked up or dropped off at either building. Students who park in the north lot will not be able to leave until buses do, according to the district.

The 300,000-square-foot building opened its doors to the public for the first time on Jan. 8, which marked the end of phase one.

Phase two will include renovations and additions to the existing portions of the South Building. When the South Building renovations and additions are complete, educational space will exceed 520,000 square feet.

Phase three will begin in June, which is when parts of the North Building will be demolished and replaced.

The more than $140 million project is to be completed by the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.
