Looking to show some love this Valentine’s Day? Personalized banners to hang in State College

Come Valentine’s Day, State College will be filled with love as the first Hearts for State College fundraiser kicks off.

With help from the State College Borough and the Sign Factory, the Sunrise Rotary is hoping to canvas the downtown area with personalized hearts — helping people show love and support for their special someone. Hearts cost $50 and will be displayed until Feb. 28. Proceeds from the project will help the club support community organizations and nonprofits throughout the region.

Tiffany Mathias, club secretary, heard about a similar fundraiser while attending a conference. Wanting to spread “a little bit of sunshine to our cold winter gray days,” she brought the idea back to State College.

“I love the idea of a partner buying a heart for their loved one, taking them to dinner downtown and surprising their love with a Valentine message,” Mathias said. “Others in our club are buying hearts for family members and going on a scavenger hunt to find them.”

Hearts can be purchased online at statecollegesunriserotary.org until Sunday.
