State College school to reopen Friday after widespread illness kept it closed for 2 days

Nittany Christian School will reopen Friday after widespread illness kept the school closed for two days.

The school, located at 1221 W. Whitehall Road, closed Wednesday and Thursday while NCS worked to disinfect its classrooms.

In a statement, Principal Anna Dowell said the decision to close was made Tuesday “due to a significant number of students and staff experiencing flu-like symptoms, including some confirmed cases of the flu.”

Dowell said 45 staff members and students called out sick.

NCS has taken extra precautions to stop the spread of illness, Dowell said.

“We continue to coordinate efforts with the State College Alliance Church where we are located, as well as the NCS classroom teachers and staff to minimize the spread of illness,” she said. “We continue to pray for healing for our school community as they seek medical treatment.”

On Thursday afternoon, NCS posted on Facebook that it would be open Friday.
