A new store will open in State College. It’s stocking its shelves now and needs your help
Centre County residents will soon have a new place to shop, but first, the new business wants to buy community members’ clothes and accessories.
Uptown Cheapskate — a consignment shop for teens and young adults — is now open and buying clothes, shoes and accessories at its new location, 176 Rolling Ridge Drive in State College. The sister franchise of next door Kid to Kid, Uptown Cheapskate will pay instant cash or 50% more in trade value that can be used at its grand opening, which is planned for late March.
“Right now, we are only buying from you until we fill the store — so nothing is for sale yet,” reads a post on the store’s Facebook page. “We take buys with no appointment needed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at our new location at Hills South Plaza.”
The first store was founded by Scott and Chelsea Sloan in downtown Salt Lake City in 2009. Today, Uptown Cheapskate has expanded to over 40 locations in 17 states.
The State College store’s most wanted items are athletic wear, shoes and sandals, all-season clothing and outerwear. A “one-stop-shop,” Uptown Cheapskate will also donate any items not purchased to sell.
More information and updates on special deals can be found on the store’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
