A tree fell onto some wires in Patton Township Friday afternoon, causing a disruption to phone, internet and TV service, and a brief road closure.

Alpha Fire Company, Patton Township police were dispatched to North Atherton Street between Skytop Lane and state Route 550 at about 10:30 a.m. for hazardous conditions. The state Department of Transportation, Comcast and Verizon also responded.

The tree was removed from the roadway in about 45 minutes, according to Patton Township police Sgt. Sean Albright, and North Atherton was reopened.

According to Albright, Verizon needed to replace the utility pole. He did not have an estimate for when phone, internet and TV service would be restored.

According to Xfinity’s outage map, service was still out for about 1,001-2,500 customers at 2 p.m. Comcast subscribers can check for updates by logging into their account.
