Love this State College sweet treat shop? You’ll have to get used to a new location
The sole Rita’s Italian Ice in Centre County will be moving out of downtown State College next year.
The location at 119 E. Beaver Ave. in downtown State College will be relocating from its current location next year, according to signs posted on the window Tuesday.
The posted signs say that Rita’s will be moving to North Atherton Street “next to” Champs Sports Grill in March 2021.
Each Rita’s location operates seasonally, with most locations typically being open from March to October, and the store will seemingly still be open until its regular seasonal closing date.
It is unclear which location next to Champs the store will be moving into, or the reason for the move. Rita’s public relations could not immediately be reached for comment, and employees at the store declined to comment.
The Beaver Avenue location is the only Rita’s Italian Ice in Centre County. The next closest one is a store in Burnham in Mifflin County.
The location recently reopened with restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, such as only having window service and closing off its dine-in area.
