Two prominent downtown State College storefronts have closed their doors this month.

Woodring’s Floral Gardens and the Amazon Hub, both on South Allen Street, closed on May 14 and May 13, respectively.

Woodring’s Floral Gardens has served the State College area from its location on Allen Street since 1976, it wrote in a Facebook post, and said making the decision to close was difficult.

“Having served the State College and surrounding communities from this location since 1976, this was most certainly a difficult decision to make. It was also, however, the right one for us at this time,” the post read.

But customers will still be able to fulfill their floral needs from Woodring’s Floral Gardens, just from its Bellefonte location at 125 S. Allegheny St.

“After weighing all of our options and taking into consideration the many factors that led us to this point, we will be moving all of our operations to our Bellefonte location at 125 South Allegheny Street, just a few blocks down from the courthouse,” the post read.

Customers can contact Woodring’s Floral Gardens at 814-355-4771, 814-238-0566, or online, woodringsfloral.com.

The Amazon Hub had a sign on its door stating it was permanently closed effective May 13. The downtown location opened in 2017 and offered a place for delivery of Amazon orders and free returns. Between nine and 15 people were expected to be employed at the store when it opened.

According to its website, other Amazon pick up locations nearby include Weis Market at 560 Westerly Parkway and 1471 Martin St., both in State College, 170 Buckaroo Lane, Bellefonte, and 501 N. Centre St., Philipsburg.
