1 person rescued from fire in Harris Township apartment building, transported to hospital
A resident of a Harris Township apartment building was transported to the hospital on Saturday after being rescued from a fire.
Boalsburg Fire Company was called to the 500 block of Jacks Mills Drive just before 3 p.m. Saturday for a building fire. Upon arrival, neighbors confirmed that one person was trapped in the second floor apartment where the fire was located, the fire company wrote in a Facebook post.
Firefighters from Boalsburg and Alpha fire companies and State College police officers used ladders and extricated the resident from a window. Crews had the fire knocked down within minutes of arrival, and overhaul took about 30 minutes, the Boalsburg Fire Company said.
The resident was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Centre LifeLink EMS and flown by Geisinger Life Flight to another hospital, Alpha Fire Company wrote on Sunday.
A Boalsburg firefighter self transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center with a hand laceration and was treated and released, according to the fire company.
Centre Hall Volunteer Fire Company also assisted at the scene.
The fire is under investigation by the state police fire marshal.
