From food stand to restaurant, Carter’s Table set to open Saturday in downtown State College
A new restaurant — whose owner already made an impression around town — is set to open Saturday in downtown State College.
Carter’s Table, formerly a food stand that made appearances at local breweries and the downtown farmers market, announced on social media its brick-and-mortar restaurant will open 11 a.m. Saturday. It’s located at 407 E. Beaver Ave., where Japanese restaurant Maki Yaki once operated.
It will remain open Saturday until 7 p.m.
Carter’s Table bills itself as a restaurant with “worldwide flavors,” inspired by owner Shawn Carter’s “childhood, travels and passion for serving people.” It’s especially known for its tacos and quesadillas.
The full menu, cost and hours were not immediately known. The information did not appear on Carter’s social media pages, and he did not immediately return several messages seeking comment.
At different times, Carter’s food stand has served tacos such as lamb barbacoa, brisket tinga, chicken tinga, chili-lime grilled chicken, roasted pork, black bean, five-spice beef, Thai BBQ chicken satay, etc.
