Discovery Space of Central PA is offering free admission this summer to active military personnel and their families.

The offer is part of the Blue Star Museums program, a nationwide initiative to provide current armed forces members with free admission to museums over the summer. The program is a collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Department of Defense and participating museums.

Michele Crowl, the executive director at Discovery Space, said the program makes the museum’s exhibits accessible to military personnel and their families.

“We want to show our support for military personnel and their families and be a place that they can come and enjoy together for free over the summer,” Crowl said.

Members of the United States Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Space Force, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps and members of the Reserves are eligible. Active military personnel can also bring up to five families members for free.

The 2023 program lasts until Labor Day, Sept. 4. Documentation or ID is required for entry at participating museums.

Discovery Space is located at 1224 N. Atherton St., State College.
