Dunkin’ plans to open a new location in downtown State College, a company spokesperson confirmed Thursday.

The coffee and doughnut chain will move into the former Starbucks at 141 S. Garner St. and open in the fall. Dunkin’ expects to have 30 employees at the location.

Dunkin’ already has a downtown store at 200 W. College Ave. — which will remain open and operate along with the Garner Street location, a spokesperson said — and four other locations in State College as well as one on the Benner Pike in Bellefonte.

This is the latest step as the company expands its Centre County footprint. Dunkin’ earlier this year announced plans for its first stores in Penns Valley and Philipsburg. The Philipsburg store, which recently passed a health inspection and received approval from the state to operate, has been eyeing an early June opening, the CDT previously reported. The Centre Hall store expects to open in July, a Dunkin’ spokesperson said.
