A mother and father from Huntingdon, Pa., celebrated the New Year at Mount Nittany Medical Center with a new bundle of joy.

Parker Dean Thomas was the first baby born at the Centre County hospital in 2024, to parents Miranda and Shane. He weighed in at 6 pounds, 5.6 ounces.

Although the exact time of birth was not shared, Mount Nittany Health did confirm he was the hospital’s first delivery Monday morning.

“Parker received his very first hug at Mount Nittany Medical Center, and we’re proud to welcome Parker to Centre County,” Mount Nittany Health wrote in a news release.

Each year, the medical center’s Joseph V. and Suzanne P. Women and Children’s Services unit welcomes more than 1,200 new babies. For more information on the unit, visit mountnittany.org/maternity.
