State College shop collecting donations for those affected by California fires. How to help
A State College business is gathering donations for residents affected by the California wildfires that have killed at least 10 people, destroyed thousands of structures and caused mandatory evacuation orders.
By A Thread Boutique, a clothing store, will collect donations next week to support disaster relief efforts. The store will have a trailer from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Jan. 15 at 1341 S. Atherton St., Suite 8, State College for donations.
“While we may be thousands of miles away, our hearts are with everyone affected by the wildfires in California,” Emily Boone, owner of By A Thread Boutique, wrote in a news release.
This week Southern California saw multiple wildfires break out during a “historic red flag wind event,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
The boutique is partnering with Lytle’s Transfer and Storage of Tipton to transport the donated items to Los Angeles.
“Our goal is to not only fill the trailer once but several times over,” Boone wrote.
