State College man reported missing. Borough police ask for help finding him

A State College man is missing and borough police asked the public Wednesday for help finding him.

Stephen Shimmel, 46, was last seen Sunday evening in State College, borough police wrote in a press release. The department said he was reported missing Monday morning.

He is listed as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and is described as a heavy-set white man with blue eyes, blonde or gray hair and a long beard. He was last known to be wearing a brown coat and carrying a portable oxygen tank.

In addition to locating Shimmel, police said they are hoping to “check on his welfare.”

Those with information on Shimmel were asked to contact police at 814-234-7150, police@statecollegepa.us or by submitting an anonymous tip online.
