The new casino coming to State College will offer a free Dealer School to help prepare its students for in-demand careers in the casino industry, Happy Valley Casino announced Thursday.

The program will have flexible day and evening classes, and is ideal for people looking for part-time or full-time career work, a press release states. It will offer hands-on training in popular game tables like Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat and more.

“This school isn’t just about dealing cards — it’s about launching careers in a high-growth, high-energy industry,” Eric Pearson, general manager at Happy Valley Casino, said in the release. “We’re preparing people not only to succeed in gaming, but to thrive in it.”

The Happy Valley Dealer School will be 12 weeks long and free to attend once accepted. Students in the program will be paid for their training time. The training will include real world simulations and small group instruction, according to the release.

Steve Rinaldi, director of table games at Happy Valley Casino, said he began his career as a table games dealer at 21 years old.

“What began as an exciting, people focused job cheering players on, building energy at the table, and earning great tips — turned into a career filled with meaningful relationships and lasting opportunities. It’s given me the stability to grow, support my family, and build a life I’m proud of. If you’ve got personality, we’ll teach you the rest. This industry can change your life,” he said in the release.

Enrollment begins Oct. 1 and classes will run from Dec. 15 through Jan. 5. People can enroll by visiting hvcasino.com.

Happy Valley Casino is planned for the old Macy’s store in the Nittany Mall, 2877 E. College Ave., State College. It is expected to open in Spring 2026 and will employ nearly 300 people upon opening. Some positions at the casino have also been posted on Indeed.com, including table games shift manager, controller and purchasing agent.

The Category 4 casino anticipates having up to 750 slot machines, 30 table games, a restaurant, bar and a quick-serve dining option. The $120 million project has been under construction since March.
