The Field unveils Penn State football coach Matt Campbell’s burger. Here’s what’s on it
The Field Burger and Tap has a new burger creation on its “coaches corner” menu crafted with help from Penn State’s new head football coach.
Coach (Matt) Campbell’s Roman Burger is now available on the menu at the popular State College restaurant known for its unique burgers and craft milkshakes. Coach Campbell’s Roman Burger is topped with salami, mortadella, white cheddar, arugula, tomato, onion, mayo and Italian dressing, served on a brioche bun.
The creation is a stark contrast from former head coach James Franklin’s burger — turkey burger on a whole grain roll topped with arugula, tomato, olive tapenade and goat cheese — which was quickly removed from the menu after he was fired in October.
Coach Campbell’s Roman Burger will sit alongside four others in the coaches corner: Coach Kieger’s “Juicy Lucy,” The Dambach-ery, The Big Gadowsky and Coach Katie’s Craft. The price for Campbell’s Roman Burger hasn’t been posted online yet but the other burgers in the coaches corner range from $18-20.
The Field Burger and Tap is located at the Toftrees Golf Resort, 1 Country Club Lane, State College, and is open from 7 a.m. -9 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday. It opened in 2015 and focuses on farm-to-table dining, using locally sourced fresh ingredients whenever available.
