A woman sued a State College-area trampoline park after she said a jump into a foam pit left her with a broken back.

Makenna Taddy, who was in her early 20s when she was injured in March 2024, accused Get Air Trampoline Park of negligence for operating a foam pit that she said was too shallow. Her attorney wrote in the lawsuit that it was only two feet deep.

The lawsuit, which Taddy filed in January in Dauphin County, was transferred to federal court Monday.

Taddy said in the suit that she landed on either the floor or an obstruction after jumping into the foam pit. She was assisted out by her friends before a Get Air employee called an ambulance, according to the suit.

Attorney Carin A. O’Donnell described the shallow bottom as a “hidden danger.” Taddy, of Cambria County, was left with two compression fractures in her spine, according to the suit. She’s seeking more than $50,000.

In pushing to have the lawsuit dismissed, Get Air said Taddy’s mother signed a waiver on her behalf and gave up the ability to sue. Instead, the chain of indoor trampoline parks argued Taddy was required to engage in either mediation or arbitration.

A message left Tuesday with the company’s attorney was not immediately returned.
