Centre County Coroner’s office releases identity of woman killed in State College crash
The Centre County Coroner’s office released the identity Friday of the woman who died after a high-speed, rollover crash at a State College intersection this week.
Raina A. Kassoway, 48, of Boalsburg, died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest due to the crash at the intersection of South Allen Street and Westerly Parkway, Centre County Chief Deputy Coroner John D. Kubalak wrote in a press release Friday evening. Her death was ruled accidental.
The coroner’s office and State College police continue to investigate the single-vehicle crash. In a previous press release, State College police wrote that video footage showed Kassoway traveling northbound about 11:13 a.m. Wednesday on Allen Street at a high rate of speed. She entered the intersection using the westbound turn lane and continued north.
Police said she left the roadway, narrowly missing a southbound driver and a northbound pedestrian, and continued across a lawn. She then struck a cement retaining wall on Sunrise Terrace, going airborne before the vehicle landed on its roof.
Kassoway was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead after “extensive resuscitative efforts,” Kubalak wrote.
State College police asked those with information about the crash to call 814-234-7150, email police@statecollegepa.us or submit an anonymous tip online.
